Digital transformation drivers

As a manufacturer and distributor of home healthcare and medical professional products, A.M.G. Medical must stay ahead of market trends. This includes shifts in customer inventory strategies and changes in the consumption of healthcare delivery.

“We have been evolving from on-the-ground B2B to a hybrid online B2B model with integrated e-commerce. In the past, we worked mainly with wholesalers that would ship products to end user hospitals and other care sites.

Now we are fulfilling orders directly from hospitals and patients in their homes. With these just-in-time (JIT) inventory customers, it has become increasingly important that we fulfill and deliver orders as fast as possible with no hiccups and no headaches.”

Obstacles to overcome

Like many businesses in the healthcare distribution space, most of A.M.G. Medical’s products are imported, adding complexity to its supply chain and the need to factor in long lead times when managing inventory and orders.

“Approximately 90% of the products we sell have a three-to-four-month lead time to get them,” said Jonathan. “Therefore, to engage in JIT delivery, we must have our finger on the pulse of the supply chain both upstream to our suppliers in terms of inventory availability and downstream to our customers in terms of their supply demands.”

According to Jonathan, another element of ensuring exceptional customer service is having insights into ordering patterns, including an understanding of fluctuations in demand. He stated:

“When processing orders, we need our systems to be able to differentiate between regular business, such as orders tied to a contract, and spikes in supply demand related to one-time orders of products that customer might never need again. That's where we are living day-to-day trying to understand all that.”

Enabling digital transformation

To meet customer demands for complete, accurate and on-time orders, A.M.G. Medical requires a modern technology infrastructure for supply chain and warehouse operations designed for digital transformation. This includes:

Real-time visibility into inventory and order processing

Advanced analytics that surface actionable insights for strategic decision-making

To navigate through changing market dynamics, the A.M.G. Medical team needs a dedicated technology partner that is willing to work collaboratively with them to evolve its solutions in alignment with the company’s strategic vision.
